The Senator That Gave Us Obamacare Just Killed It’s Repeal.

John McCain has done it again. Just when you think you couldn’t like him any less, he goes and completely outdoes himself. Don’t forget, in all reality, we HAVE Obamacare thanks to Senator McCain’s horrid campaign. It was that train wreck that gave us Barack Obama. Well, McCain is just the (bad) gift that keeps on giving.

McCain, along with two of his “Republican” colleagues, joined the Democrats to vote ‘no’ on the Obamacare repeal bill. The vote was held well after midnight this morning, specifically focusing on the ‘skinny’ repeal of many of the most egregious portions of Obamacare.

Despite having a majority in the Senate, the Republicans, once again, couldn’t get the job done. John McCain (R-AZ), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) all became turncoats and collectively killed the Obamacare repeal (at least for now) despite running on doing that very thing.

Many within the Senate Republicans are outraged at their colleagues willingness to abandon a promise they made to their constituents in order to be elected (or re-elected).

“I sadly feel a great many Americans will feel betrayed, that they were lied to, and that sentiment will not be unjustified. You cannot campaign against Obamacare and then vote for Obamacare.” – Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)

Despite being the final nail in the Obamacare repeal, Senator McCain doubled down on stupid and defended his vote.

From Bloomberg Politics:

“We must now return to the correct way of legislating and send the bill back to committee, hold hearings, receive input from both sides of aisle, heed the recommendations of nation’s governors, and produce a bill that finally delivers affordable health care for the American people,” McCain said in a statement after the vote. “We must do the hard work our citizens expect of us and deserve.”

The fight to see an end to Obamacare is not over, but it has taken a severe blow. It now looks like Republicans may have to simply wait out the clock. Obamacare is all but insolvent in it’s current configuration. It will fail. It will die. The Republicans had the opportunity to save the American people from this madness, but three individuals decided their own pride and arrogance were more important.
