President Trump Just Turned Up The Heat on McConnell

President Trump is not too happy with Mitch McConnell, and reasonably so.

In a press conference today outside the White House, President Trump delivered a very stern message. He directed that message at none other than Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell.

From NBC News:

When asked if McConnell should step down from his leadership position, Trump told responded: “If he doesn’t get repeal and replace done and if he doesn’t get taxes done, meaning cuts and reform, and if he doesn’t get a very easy one to get done, infrastructure, if he doesn’t get them done, then you can ask me that question.”

“Let’s hope he gets it done,” Trump added.

President Trump is obviously (and reasonably) frustrated with the work of McConnell when it comes to healthcare. GOP congressmen promised a complete repeal for years, but have not delivered. The President even went as far as to call the work that the GOP has done on the Obamacare repeal a ‘disgrace.’

It’s no secret that the GOP establishment has had disdain for the President’s agenda. They see President Trump as a novice who doesn’t really understand how ‘politics’ works. At a town hall event this week, McConnell had choice words for his view of the President’s ‘timeline’:

McConnell needs to go.

It’s time for leadership that can actually get things done in congress. Why is it only the Republicans that can never get anything done despite controlling the entire government? When the Democrats had the same control in 2008 and 2009, we got Obamacare. The GOP seems unable to garner the unity or work ethic required to accomplish ‘big’ tasks of that magnitude. It’s time for someone to lead the Senate (and the House for that matter) who can actually get the job done. I tweeted this almost a month ago, and it has never been more true.
